Interview with Hong Kong Perspectives – by Phoenix TV (2021 Sep)

In 2021, Dr. Hayson Liu participated in an interview with Phoenix TV’s “Hong Kong New Perspective” to discuss “Young People” and explore educational aspirations. Dr. Liu strongly believes that Hong Kong students are not “Useless Youth” but rather young individuals who are determined to excel. Therefore, educators and leaders need to reflect on whether their teaching is of high quality and if they are still relying on outdated methods. It is important to challenge the prejudice that “Young people today are definitely useless, and education today is definitely poor.” They should strive to broaden their perspectives, set aside their egos, and assist the next generation in experiencing learning, understanding culture, bridging the generation gap, and innovating while upholding traditions.

Experiential learning activities should not be limited by too many preconceptions. Everyone should express their thoughts, be open to differing opinions, and respect each other even without reaching a consensus, as mutual respect is the best form of communication.

In this episode, Dr. Liu discusses the challenges and rewards of coordinating diverse cultural activities and exchanges between China and Hong Kong, while delving deeper into the concept of “Teaching without Teaching” in education.
