HKU Dunhuang Mogao Caves Internship Programme 2026

The Dunhuang Academy will offer multiple docent internship positions to students from the University of Hong Kong. The program includes approximately two weeks of training and internship, during which participants will help promote Dunhuang culture.

The internship covers Dunhuang’s human geography, professional docent training, thematic studies, and on-site interpretation. Students will visit major cave sites, including the Mogao Caves, the Yulin Caves, and the Western Thousand Buddha Caves, as well as historical sites such as Yangguan, Yumen Pass, and Xuanquan Zhi, and will exchange ideas with local scholars. After completing the program and passing the assessment, students can become trainee docents at the Mogao Caves, guiding tourists through the caves and promoting Dunhuang culture.
